Emma Brose was born in Prussia, to Christof Brose and Carolina Winklemann. She came with her family to the US as an infant, arriving in October 1868. On 5 Feb 1891, she married August Frederick Briese in Crystal Lake, Marquette, WI. They had at least 8 children: William (b 1891), Elsie (b 1892), Edward (b 1895), Lillie (b 1897), Walter (b 1899), Ella (b 1901), Arthur (b 1905),and Paul (b 1907).
