Lawrence "Joe" Hamm, 57, of Illiopolis died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003. He was born Oct. 30, 1945, in Springfield, the son of Gilbert Lawrence and Ruth Evelyn Coleman Hamm. He married Deanna Sue Whitehead in 1979 in Niantic. Mr. Hamm was a member of the United Methodist Church in Illiopolis and past president of the Lions Club for several years. He organized the Illiopolis Thanksgiving dinner and distributed fruit baskets to area seniors. Survivors: wife, Deanna Sue; a son, Lawrence R. Hamm Jr. of Darlington, Wis.; three daughters, Shannon E. (husband, Merle) Floyd of Shelbyville, Shamarie R. (husband, Timothy) Allen of Cerro Gordo and Shamron S. Rhodes of Mount Auburn; six grandchildren; a sister, Kay Etter of Illiopolis; and a nephew. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Mount Auburn Methodist Church. Burial: Mount Auburn Cemetery. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur is in charge of arrangements.
