Judith Morgan Deuel was the fourth of twelve children born to Benjamin Morgan and his wife Lucy Dunham of Pownal, Bennington Co., VT. Her father was a farmer and veteran of the Green Mountain Boys during the Revolutionary War. On June 22, 1806 in Pownal Judith married Isaac Deuel (1780-1870) of Dutchess Co., NY. The couple had nine children, all surviving into adulthood: Obil (b. 1808), Hannah (b. 1810), Morgan (b. 1812), Sarina (b. 1814), Silas (b. 1817), Franklin (b. 1821), Lucy L. (twin, b. 1824), Lois M. (twin, b. 1824), and Lydia J. (b. 1828).
