MR. AND MRS. JAMES M. GAY HAVE GOLDEN WEDDING

Mr. and Mrs. James M. Gay of Wadley community, observed their "Golden Wedding" on Tuesday, Dec. 13th, being married in 1871. The renewal of these sacred vows was performed by Rev. A.C. Yeargan in the presence of this large family and many friends. Mr. and Mrs. Gay have spent their lives in this community and their friends are as many as their acquaintances. A more congenial couple, having a kind word and a smile for all, can scarcely be found. Mr. and Mrs. Gay have 12 children living, 28 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Two children are dead; one died in infancy; the other was Mrs. R.B. Kilgore who left two children, Dewey Kilgore and Mrs. Gladys Swafford of Ragland. The children are:

Robert L. Gay of Wadley
Dr. C.P. Gay of Geneva
Dr. J.S. Gay of Ashland
Mrs. Bradford Killgore of Weogufka
Mrs. E.J. Callaway of Birmingham
Mrs. E.G. Stone of Birmingham
Mrs. R.V. Roberts of Shawmut
Dr. Andrew J. Gay of Roanoke
Mrs. Awbrey Evans of Mangum, Okla.
J.J. Crowder of Shawmut (Mrs.?)
Miss Bernice Gay of Langdale
Miss Mary Lou Gay of Wadley

All of the above were present to add joy to this happy occasion. After these many years of service to God, their children and humanity, they are hale and hearty and bid fair to see many more happy years.

When we look over the list of this large family, and see the prominent and useful men and women they have given to the world, we feel that they are honored.

Many presents were given them by their friends and loved ones. The social gathering of friends, children and grandchildren was greatly enjoyed by all, and especially by this aged father and mother, which was marked only by the thought that they would hardly ever see them all together again in this life.
