NEWPORT NEWS — Clarence L. "Clem" Widney, Jr. 73, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, at Riverside Regional Medical Center.
A native of Tyrone, Pa., Clem was a Peninsula resident for the past 30 years. He retired in 1996 from the Maintenance department at the Newport News Shipyard with 22 years of service. Mr. Widney was an Army veteran, a member of the Animal Aid Society, and was a Shriner.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia "Patty" Widney of Newport News; two sisters, Evie Widney McClellan of Altoona, Pa., and Fort Myers, Fla., and Dolly Widney Lucas of Fayetteville, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006 at the Weymouth Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be in Pennsylvania at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Animal Aid Society, 8 Butler Farm Road, Hampton, VA 23666
