GIBBS, Laura Wilmer, 63, of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 1997, in the Bedford County Memorial Hospital. She was born September 1, 1933 in Covington, a daughter of the late Alonzo and Lottie Pearl Wilmer. She was a retired clerk with the Bedford General District Court, was a member of the Bedford Lioness Club, a former member of the Bedford City School Board, and was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Dennis H. Gibbs; two sons, Gregory A. Gibbs, Bedford, Robert A. Gibbs, Knoxville, Tenn.; five sisters, Virginia Fraser, Jean Clarkson, Martha Gilbert, all of Covington, Mildred Payne, Atlanta, Ga., Mary Jo Ball, Newport News; four grandsons, Joshua A. Gibbs, Seth A. Gibbs, both of Bedford, Andrew S. Gibbs, Goode, Trevor Gibbs, Austin, Texas. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 14, 1997, at 11 a.m. from the Main Street United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Glen Langston. Interment will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Covington. Visitation will begin at noon on Friday and the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home, Bedford, and requests that those wishing to make memorials consider the Main Street United Methodist Church Building Fund.
