Her children have planned a celebration of life at Ware's Grove Church in Butler on April 14, 2012, which would have been her 92nd birthday. A memorial will be announced on that day. Her wishes were to be cremated, and interment will be in Ware's Grove Cemetery in Butler.
Born on April 14, 1920, she was a daughter of William and Wilma Turner. She graduated from Hillsboro High School and attended Carthage College.
A lifelong member of the Lutheran faith, she was a lifelong attendant of Ware's Grove Church in Butler. She made her home on the family farm in the Butler flat where she lived for 46 years, and later resided in Florida and Texas.
Mrs. Unger was a licensed practical nurse specializing in the care of the elderly. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a founder of the Ware Family Association.
She is survived by three sons, Steve (wife Ellen) of Texarkana, AR, Paul (wife Donna) of Newton, IA, and Charles (wife Sharon) of Edwardsville; a daughter, Kathleen Kreiselmeyer of Denver, CO; ten grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Frank and Charles.
