Mrs. ERNEST J. MARCOUX
Mrs. Cordelia (Roy) Marcoux, 88, widow of Ernest J. Marcoux, of 226 Maple St., who had resided in Bennington for more than 70 years, died this morning at her home after a brief illness.
The daughter of Joseph and Marie (Rousseau) Roy, she was born in West Rutland May 24, 1882. Her education had been received in Bennington. She was married to Mr. Marcoux June 6, 1904 in Sacred Heart Church by the pastor, the late Rev. C. E. Prevost. Mr. Marcoux died in Bennington in 1953.
A devout member of Sacred Heart Church, she belonged to St. Anne Society and was also a member of St. Jean Baptiste Society of that parish. Her home and her family had been her primary interests. During her longtime residence here, she had acquired numerous friends.
Survivors are 13 children; four daughters; Mrs. Leo (Carmel) Moran, Mrs. Joseph (Irene) Giard, Mrs. Arthur (Julia) Bronson and Mrs. Edward (Leonie) Jones, all of Bennington; nine sons; Lucien of Laconia, N.H.; Raymond of Schenectady, N.Y.; Roland of Bennington; Victor of Chicago, Ill.; Richard of Bennington, Clement of Hoosick Falls, Henry of Hoosick Falls, Alfred and Francis Marcoux, both of Bennington. Three sisters are also left; Mrs. Wilfred (Leah) LaFlamme of Bennington, Miss Regina Roy of Bennington and Sister Mary Andrew, Sister of St. Joseph (S.S.J.) of Rutland; also one brother, Edward Roy of Bennington.
Twenty-six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren survive and also several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at Mahar & Son Funeral Home Saturday at 8:30am with a prayer and at 9 in Sacred Heart Church where a Requiem High Mass will be offered. Entombment will be in Park Lawn Chapel and burial will be in this cemetery at a later date.
Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 and Thursday and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm when the family will be in attendance. There will be recitation of the Rosary Friday at 8 pm.
