Reverand Cowger is 83 years old
On Saturday, November 6, the Rev. Austen Cowger, father of Mrs. Delmer Lampp, a teacher in the Carm township high school, was honored at a birthday dinner in celebration of his 83 birthday.
The occasion was also the closing day of a 3 week meeting in Lebanan C. P. church in Saline County and the celebration was held on church grounds.
Friends from Galatin, Hebron, Union Grove, Ebenezer churches were present to offer congratulations to Rev. Cowger.
The honored guest had in past years served in these churches At the morning services nine additions were welcomed into the church and scores of people expressed grest inclusion in the Christian world.
Rev, Cowgur is still in the ministry and is well known in Saline and White Counties

Death Takes Rev. W. A. Cowgur, 83, Near Galatia

Rev. W. A. Cowgur, 83, well known Cumberland Presbyterian minister, died early today at Vickers-Memorial hospital in McLeansboro where he had been a patient for five weeks, death due to complications.
Mr. Cowgur had been active as a minister for 43 years and for many years has been pastor of Ebenezer church, west of Rileyville, also serving the pastorate of Lebanon church, north of Galatia, at the time he became ill.
Mrs. Mary Cowgur, his wife survives with one son, William Cowgur, Chester, Ill., and a daughter, Mrs. Delmar Lampp, Burnt Prairie, one brother, A. T. Cowgur, Mt. Pulaski, one sister Mrs.George Pohl, Aurora, also survives.
The body, which was recieved by the Courtney funeral home, in Galatia, will be returned Sunday mormning to the family home, two and one half miles west of Galatia, where it will lie in state until the funeral hour.
Funeral services willl be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Ebenezer church, the Rev. Frank Sanders of Campbellsville, Ky., officiating, assissted by the Rev. Charles Hedges of Norris City. Burial will be in Ebenezer cemetery
