Cameron, Wilburn Porter Was born in the Altoga community near McKinney, Texas to Gam and Thula (Porter) Cameron on March 11, 1918. He departed this life on May 1, 2011 in McKinney, TX. Services will be held at Flesher Funeral Home in Van Alstyne, TX, with his cousin, Dr. Bob Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Altoga cemetery. Porter was co-founder and owner of Cameron Machine, Inc. in Richardson from which he retired in the early 1990s. He pastored rural Baptist churches in Collin County in the 1950s. He was drafted and served honorably in the U.S. Army near the end of WWII. Mr. Cameron was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Richardson, and a member of First Baptist in Van Alstyne at the time of his death. His wife of 62 years, the former Christine Robertson of Honey Grove, Texas, preceded him in death in 2002. He was also preceded in death by daughter, Suzanne Wright and grandson Joshua Caleb Cameron. He is survived by three sons, Mike and wife Barbara of Grand Saline; Pat and wife Patricia of Melissa; and Ron of Van Alstyne. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Flesher Funeral Home from 6PM to 8PM on Tuesday, May 3, 2011. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Franklin Graham's Samaritan's Purse.
