VERNON COUNTY HISTOCIAL SOCIETY OBITUARY ARTICLE: Mrs. Permelia Appleman

Permelia Pierce, daughter of Lucinda and William Harrison Pierce, was born at Bloomingdale, Wis., on the 6th day of September, 1872. She passed away at the home of her son Ebert Appleman, at La Farge, Wis., on the 17th day of August, 1946, at the age of 73 years, 11 months, and 11 days.

She was united in holy matrimony to David C. Appleman on May 10th, 1890, at Bloomingdale, Wisconsin. To this union were born two sons, Ebert of La Farge, Wis., and Theo of Akron, Ohio.

She leaves to mourn her departure two sons and their wives, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three brothers, Robert, of La Crosse; William, of Westby, and Lewis of Madison, together with a host of nieces, nephews and friends. One granddaughter preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Royal Neighbor Lodge Pearl Camp No. 2327 of Bloomingdale, Wisconsin.

After her marriage she and her husband moved to Ohio, where they resided for about a year. They then returned to Wisconsin and made their home in the town of Clinton, where her husband preceded her in death on February 25, 1935.

She has been living at her home in Bloomingdale until the past four weeks, when she was stricken to her bed and taken to the home of her son Ebert, at La Farge. Since then she has been in intense suffering until the time of her death, but bore her affliction uncomplainingly.
She was a good, kind and loving mother, a loyal friend and neighbor, always willing to lend a helping hand in time of sickness or need.

The funeral was held Monday, August 19, at 1:30 o'clock from the residence, followed by services in the Bloomingdale church at 2:00 o'clock. The burial was in the Bloomingdale cemetery. The Rev. Lee Holmes of Loyal, Wis., assisted by Rev. C. Paul Nulton of La Farge, officiated.
