From Virginia, Mary probably either followed sister Betsy and her husband James Berry or came with mother and step-father Richard Haslerig to Rhea County, Tennessee. She no doubt arrived at least by 1818 as she married Thomas J Jack in Sep. 1818. A Deed of Conveyance 16 Feb 1828 indicates husband Thomas Jack of Mc Minn Co. selling his tan-yard in Rhea Co. Are listed in 1830, 1840 Census of Morgan Co., Tn. Another move in the 1840's took them to Cleveland, Bradley Co., Tennessee. After husband Thomas died about 1849 or 1850, Mary moved by ox cart to North-West Arkansas, with her then single children Thomas J, Jr., Nancy N Jack, George Gillespie Jack, Sarah L Jack, James Berry Jack, Catherine Jack, and John Allen Jack. Her oldest daughter Elizabeth also moved to Madison County, Arkansas with her husband Samuel P Vaughn, after the 1850 Census was taken (They are list in Morgan County in 1850). Other married children Benjamin S Jack, and Martha Jane Jack Everett, remained in Tennessee. Mary's letter to daughter Martha Jane Everett dated 7 November 1874, indicated Mary "still in the land of the living... though I am verry frail...". Daughter Sarah told relatives years later that Mary died in January, but could not remember what year. Thus I presume the death date for Mary would be in January 1875.
