SLATERVILLE - Richard Myron Alkema. age 87, passed away on March 12, 2002, in Ogden. Utah.

He was born Auqust 8, 1914 in Ogden, Utah, to Mr. and Mrs. Claude Alkema. He married Helen Hulse on June 13, 1932 in Brigham City, Utah.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War ll. He owned his own farm, worked at Becker's Brewery for 30 years and DDO for ten years. He was a member of the Slaterville LDS Ward. He like hunting and fishing and outdoors and loved the ocean. He enjoved dancing.

He is survived by his wife, Helen of Slaterville, his children, Richard M. Alkema Jr. of Napa, California; Carlene May (Min) Nozaki of West Haven: Josephine Davidson of Layton; Cindy (George) Whitten of Plain City; and Don Dee (Janet) Alkema of San Diego, California. Also surviving are 27 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, EImer Alkema of Layton; Florence Kennedy of North Ogden: and a son-in-law, Art Hutchens of Uinta. Utah.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Maxine Hutchens; three brothers, two sisters and one grandson, Douglas Davidson.

Funeral services wiil be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2002 at Myers Mortuary Chapel, 845 Washinqton Blvd. ii Ogden. Friends and Family may call prior to the services from 11:30 to 12:45 p.m. at the mortuary.

Following the services, cremation will be under the direction by Myers Mortuary.
