Son of James Thompson and his wife Rhoda Ann Allen, Ezra was born and grew up in Dundas County, Ontario, Canada. As a young man, Ezra moved to Wisconsin, where he met and married Myra Spencer of the state of New York. They were married about 1857, and their oldest daughter, Kate was born the next year in Waupaca.

The 1860 census shows the three of them living in Waupaca, Waupaca, Wisconsin, United States. However, Ezra must have gone back to Canada for a bit since he is listed as a resident with his parents and some of his siblings in Matilda, Dundas, Ontario, Canada in 1861. In 1870, Ezra and Myra were living in Waupaca and two sons, Ralph S. and Thomas S. had joined the family. In October 1874, their daughter Mabel Louise was born. Before 1880, the family had moved to Plainfield, Waushara, Wisconsin and had the younger three children living in their home. By 1900, Ezra and Myra had moved to Greenwood, Clark, Wisconsin along with their daughter Hannah Margaret, who was born May 1881.

Ralph, Thomas and Mabel had married and had homes of their own, but Kate died before this time. I have not found more record of her, but the 1900 census indicates that Ezra and Myra had five children with four living. The three of them were also living at the same location for the 1905 state census. Hannah Margaret married Fernando Woodman Anderson in 1906.

Seventy-five year old Ezra was a patient in the Waukesha County Asylum in Pewaukee on 30 April 1910. He died the following year according to his grave stone. Myra was a widow on the 1920 Census.

I welcome any update of the information for Ezra.
