Zella Campbell (1912 - 2011)

Zella Campbell passed away peacefully with family at her side Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, one day prior to her 99th birthday. She spent her birthday in heaven with other loved ones. Service: 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Mount Olivet Chapel, with Linda Morris, chaplain of Bishop Davies Hospice, officiating. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Zella was born in Trousdale, Okla., on Nov. 1, 1912, the next to the youngest of 12 children born to Rufus and Maggie Aker. She loved being with her family, cooking her famous bread and pies, getting dressed up, having fun with friends and dancing. She touched the lives of many people with her beautiful smile and ageless beauty, and maintained her trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. Zella (called Babe by her parents and siblings) will forever be remembered. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Campbell; 10 siblings; two children, Edna Warren and Russell Martin; grandson, Michael Mackey; and two great-grandchildren.

Survivors: 102-year-old sister, Ellen Spradlin of Homeland, Calif.; daughters, Betty and husband, Charles, of Pottsboro, June Johnson and husband, Jerry, of Hurst, Peggy Alvey and husband, Art, of North Richland Hills and Jim Warren of North Richland Hills; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild; and countless other friends and family who were blessed to know her.
