Louise was born Louise Bertha, July 17, 1922 in Piper, Kansas to Earl and Della Allensworth, she was one of thirteen children. Raised in Kansas, it was here that she met and wed her husband Richard A. Gilstrap. They were married February 4, 1950 in Leavenworth, Kansas. About 1956 she and her husband moved the family to the area of Cornelius Pass where they lived for about 15 years before moving to the Scappoose area where they built their home and have resided for the last 40 years.

She worked many years for what is now known as Columbia Care Center first as an aid then later she went to college at the age of 53 and received her certificate as an LPN from Rock Creek PCC and moved up to being a Supervisor before retiring.

Louise was all about her family, she spent time with them on a bowling league, walking, and swimming for exercise. Louise was shy outside the home but was the center of the family in her house. She enjoyed making clothing for the family as well as dolls, quilts and other homemade items.

Louise is survived by the love of her life, her husband of over 61 years; Dick, children; Glenn Edmonds of Benton City, Washington, Sherrie Fehn of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, Zaneta Lain of St. Helens, Richard Gilstrap of Scappoose and Ray Gilstrap of Portland. 17 grandchildren and 27 great Grandchildren and twin sister Lillian Shrader of McLouth, Kansas.
