Charles E. Drew, aged 81, died Tuesday night at his home on North Second Street, after an illness of several months. He had been a resident of Douglas for nearly ten years.

Mr. Drew spent fifty years of his life in the railroad business. For forty years he was a passenger conductor for the C.B. & Q. Railroad, running from Burlington, Iowa to Omaha, Nebraska. The remaining ten years were spent in the same occupation on a run from Chicago to Omaha. In 1924 he came to Douglas where he lived until his death.

He is survived by his wife, Carrie Drew; a son, Chester, who came to Douglas Friday from Honolulu, where he is in the army service. He will leave December 1 for Seattle, Wash., where he will be located. Four sisters and two brothers survive but were unable to attend the funeral. They are Annis and Abbie Drew, Peoria, Ill.; Mrs. Hattie Johnson, Omaha, Nebr.; Mrs. Nettie Timmeran, Manchester, Iowa; Frank Drew, Chamberlain, S.D.; and Lew Drew, Salt Lake City, Utah.
