__Dayton - Funeral services for Delbert Henry Dayton, whose death occurred at his home 511 Fifth avenue west, Friday at 1:30 p.m. will be held Tuesday from the home at 4 p.m. The Rev. C. K. Hudson will officiate. Burial will be made in Linwood cemetery.
__Mr. Dayton is survived by his wife, and one daughter, Miss Ida Alice Dayton, two sisters Mrs. Jennie Roche, Greenwich, N.Y., Mrs. Charles Davis(1), Day, N.Y., James Dayton, Grenwich (sic), N.Y., and Wilbur Dayton of Corinth, N.Y. **** End of Obit ****
(1) NOTE: The obituary identifies the second sister as Mrs. Charles Davis, Day, N.Y. This is incorrect. The second sister was Carrie Harris [nee Dayton]; the wife of Dee Harris.
Del lived in Hadley until 1879. In 1879, he removed to Waukon, IA for a short time. His uncle Henry and several cousins had previously removed from Hadley to Waukon. Shortly later, he removed to De Funiak Springs, FL for several years. He removed to Larkin, Kansas for one year and then removed to Trinidad, Colorado for two years. He settled in Cedar Rapids, IA in 1888 where he was a train conductor. Delbert went "back east" about 1910 to visit relatives and place a monument on the graves of his parents, Charles and Nancy Dayton. Also buried on this plot are the graves of his grandparents, Henry and Christie Dayton.
