Charles "Charlie" B. Gudaitis, 89, of Somers, beloved husband of 68 years of Stella (Lyko) Gudaitis, entered into eternal rest Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Evergreen Health Care.

He was born in Waterbury, the son of the late Benedict and Magedallun (Urpstas) Gudaitis. Charlie was a resident of Somers for 56 years and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was employed by Pratt & Whitney for over 30 years retiring in 1984. He was a communicant of All Saints Church and a former member of the Water Pollution Control Board of Somers. Charles enjoyed gardening and was an avid Red Sox and UConn fan.

Besides his wife, Stella, of 68 years, he is survived by his children, Raymond Gudaitis and his wife, Peggy, of Huntsville, Ala., Linda Deabill and her husband, Thomas, of Ellington, and Cynthia Gray of Somers; a daughter-in-law, Susan B. Gudaitis of West Hartford; his grandchildren, Erin, Ray, Jeffrey and Eric; his great grandchildren, Timothy, Matthew, and Caitlin; a great great grandson, Connor; his brothers, Peter Gudaitis of Rockville and John Gudaitis of Windsorville, and his sister, Adeline Krasinski of Somersville.

He was predeceased by two sons, Alan E. and Charles J. Gudaitis, and two sisters, Bena Labanouski and Isabelle Yuodsnukis.

Family and friends will gather Monday by 9am at the Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main Street (Route 190), for a funeral procession to All Saints Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am. Burial will follow in West Cemetery with military honors. [Published in the Journal Inquirer, May 17, 2008]
