Max Archerd Jr., age 89, died Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, in Lindale. He was born Monday, April 24, 1922, in Healdton, Okla., to the late Max and Grace Maude Archerd. He was a shift foreman for Exxon and served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army. He attended the Church of Christ in Big Sandy and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Mary Lois Bowles.

He is survived by his wife, Christene Archerd of Hawkins; daughters, Betty Green and husband Jerry of Tyler and Debbie Moon and husband Dwane of Winona; grandchildren, Jason and Elizabeth Green, Brent Green, Landon and Misty Green, Jennifer and Scotty Pope and Angela Moon; great-grandchildren, Taylor Green, Jenny Green, Brooke Green, Hunter Green, Haylie Green, Montana Morgan, Savannah Morgan and Leland T. Norman.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, at Beaty Funeral Home in Hawkins.

Services will be Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at Beaty Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Hawkins at 2 p.m. with Minister Ron Bell officiating.
