Ernest R. Akers, age 66, of 1919 Fletcher St., died at 10 p.m. yesterday in St. John's Hospital after a long illness.
Services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in the Harold E. Rozelle Funeral Home by the Rev. Harold Rainbolt, pastor of the Wesleyan Methodist Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.
Mr. Akers is survived by the widow, Olive; three sons, Raymond and Lynn P., Anderson and Billy W., Elwood; a daughter, Mrs. Ernest Michael, Polo, Mo., a brother, Roscoe, Lawson, Miss., two sisters, Mrs. Walter Absher, Pilot, Va., and Mrs. Guy Link, Check, Va., and 10 grandchildren. Born in Floyd County, Va., Mrs. Akers moved to this city in 1937 from Polo, Mo., and was employed in Plant 10, Delco-Remy Division.
