She was born in Rockingham County, the daughter of William and Gertrude Pollard McLaughlin.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Good Samaritan Bible Class.
She married DeWitt Franklin Long Aug. 24, 1924, in Harrisonburg. He died June 1, 1997.
Survivors include a son; Donald M. Long of Frederick County; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be private.
