Harry Bissell

Harry F. Bissell, 78, of 6 High Street, Oneonta, a native of the Town of Burlington, died Tuesday, April 16 at Fox Hospital, after an extended illness. He had been a patient at the hospital for six days.

He was born May 1, 1895 in the town of Burlington, a son of J. William and Ora (Telfer) Bissell. He married Kathryn Decker of Gilbertsville on March 24, 1940.

He resided in Garrattsville between 1933 and 1972 before moving to Oneonta in 1972.

In his earlier life he was a farmer in the Town of Burlington, and, for a number of years, was a caretaker of Butternut Valley Cemetery, Garrattsville, and an employee of the Town of New Lisbon Highway Department.

He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Garrattsville. Surviving are his wife; a son, Lynn H. Bissell, Schenevus; an aunt, Mrs. Elsie Telfer, Hartwick; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Bertha Decker, Oneonta, two brothers-in-law, a sister-in-law, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, April 19, at the Patterson Funeral home, Hartwick, with the Rev. Roger Beach, pastor of the United Presbyterian Church, Garrattsville, officiating.

Burial will be in Hartwick Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
