She and Lacy McMillion were married in 1909. Lacy perished in the Eccles (WV) mining tragedy of April 28, 1914. Just three months later, Minnie gave birth to their daughter, Opal Lacey McMillion. The following year, Minnie married a widower with children. More children were born to them. She was widowed a second time when Garland passed away.
