Charles Joseph Colomes, Jr. on Wednesday, October 8, 2003 died in his home at the age of 91 years. He was born 10/8/1912 and died 10/8/2003. Beloved husband of the late Annabell Rotherbam Colomes. Son of the late Charles J. Colomes, Sr. and Marie Louise Haug and brother of the late Rene M. Colomes and Desiree C. Emert. He is survived by his daughter, Charlene C. Mauterer, his son-in-law Louis D. Mauterer III and his grandson Steven M. Mauterer. He served for 40 years with the federal government and retired in 1981 as Assistant Regional Commissioner of Operations, U.S. Customs Services. He was a parishoner of Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Immaculate Heart of Mary Council 4547. He was past president of the Resurrection Association of Men (RAMS), the National Association of Retired Federal Employees Chapter 1550, the U.S. Customs Federal Credit Union and director of West Orleans Credit Union Chapter. He was a honorary National Life Member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE). Durig World War II he served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater. He was a member of the Appraisers Association of America and was nationally recognized as an antique examiner. He examined more than 25000 articles of antiques destined for southern and southwestern states and his decision was never overruled.
