Farritor was born April 24, 1874 in Streeter, IL and died July 6, 1957 at the age of 83yrs, 2mos and 12das. She was baptized on May 6, 1874 in the Catholic faith. She was the oldest of a large family of children, all preceding her in death with the exception of 2 brothers, Robert J. Farritor and Frank M. Farritor of Broken Bow. She moved, with her family in 1880 from Streeter to a farm near New Helena in Custer county. In 1895 the family moved in a covered wagon train to Calvert, TX and from there to Norman, OK, then called the Chickasaw nation. There on Oct 25, 1898 she married Joseph L. Hickman and to this union 9 children were born, 4 of whom died in infancy. After her marriage, they returned to Custer county where they took up farming. In 1908, they moved to Blaine county, living on a homestead south of Purdum. This was her home until the fall of 1940 when they moved to Halsey, where she lived for 3yrs until the passing of her husband. She then moved to Broken Bow and made her home with her son, Bernard until his death on Jan 26, 1956. She then lived with her brother Frank until the time of her death. She was a good neighbor, friend and always ready to help with the sick. She went many times riding horseback or by wagon regardless of the weather, to deliver a baby in the absence of a doctor. Survivors are 3 daughters, Mrs Mildred Haselroth of Bellflower, CA, Mrs Pearl Donahoo of McMinnville, OR and Mrs Emma Donahoo of Grandview, WA; one son, Charles of Vernonia, OR; 2 brothers, Frank M and Robert J. Farritor both of Broken Bow; 14 grandchildren and 4 greats; and a host of other relatives and friends.
