Billie Jean Greenwade, age 71, of Meridian, passed away Saturday evening, October 29, 2011, in a Ft. Worth hospital.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, in the Meridian First Baptist Church with Rev. Colin Errington and Rev. Richard Creech officiating. Burial in the Meridian Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Payton Wallace, Dan Nieuwenhuis, David Winkler, James Gregory, James Pennington and Ron Bowlin.

Billie was born April 27, 1940, in Runge, Texas. She was a daughter of the late A. C. and Emma Bues Dittfurth. Billie was a graduate of Runge High School.

On October 16, 1965, she was united in marriage to Ernest O. Greenwade at the Carter Park Methodist Church in Ft. Worth, Texas. She lived in Ft. Worth and later in Clinton, Maryland while her husband was in the U. S. Air Force, stationed at Andrews Air Force Base. She and her husband moved to Meridian in 1969. Ernest passed away on December 27, 2000. Billie was an active and faithful member of the Meridian First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Iredell V.F.W. Ladies Auxillary and a volunteer for the North Bosque Helping Hands in Meridian. She had worked at the Inn on the River in Glen Rose as an Inn Keeper.

The family requests that memorials be made in memory of Billie to the North Bosque Helping Hands, Meridian First Baptist Church, American Cancer Society or to a favorite charity.

She is survived by a son, Keith Greenwade and his wife, Rhonda, of Grand Prairie; a daughter, Kristie Moreland and her husband, Steven, of Buda; 5 grandchildren; a sister, Lenora Mueller of Runge; brothers, Raymond Dittfurth and wife, Lila, of Ft. Worth and Dick Dittfurth and wife, Celine, of Muenster; number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
