Oliver P. Witt, aged 69 years, a pioneer resident of this county, died at his home on North Second Street in Douglas Saturday afternoon, Sept. 8, 1923. He suffered a stroke of paralysis the evening before. A native of Georgia, where he was born February 26, 1854, he came to Wyoming from Texas in 1885, a year before Douglas was established. He located at Fort Fetterman, coming to this place when the town site was opened, and he had since then been a resident of Douglas. Most of the time he has been engaged in the livestock business. He founded the Douglas Grain and Storage Company and was one of the owners of that business. He is survived by a wife, formerly Mrs. E. R. Wright of San Antonio, Texas, their marriage occurring less than a year ago, and two sisters, Mrs. R. E. Haskins and Mrs. Eva Shaw. (Information was obtained from his obituary in the Douglas Budget Sept. 13, 1923 by Betty Alberts, FAG Member #47293729.)
