Harold W. Litchfield, age 76, of Cohasset, passed away with family by his side on Oct. 28, 2011. Harold was the loving husband of the late Patricia Cissy (Ford) Litchfield and the devoted father of Margaret Peggy Litchfield and Julie A. Borland and her husband Stephen, both of Cohasset. Devoted grandfather of Harold J Jaime Litchfield and Patricia Tricia Litchfield. Brother of Allen G. Litchfield of Cohasset, Edith Patch of Rhode Island, predeceased by sisters Marjorie E Litchfield and Helen M. Litchfield, and his parents Harold W. and Margaret E (Gildea) Litchfield. Also survived by many nieces and nephews, countless close friends and his furry Grandchildren as well as his wonderful caregivers from Claddagh Homecare, Siobhan Lynch, Derrick Keane, Kelly Beale Swanson, Meredith Shaw, Virginia Mulkern, Dolores Lobo, Susan Kernan, Imelda Reid, Joni Bassett, and Michael Courtney. Harold was an employee of the Town of Cohasset for 42 years, starting as a laborer in 1960 and working his way up the ladder to his election as Highway Surveyor in 1978. Harold was appointed Head of the Department of Public Works in 1995, a position he held until his retirement in 2002. At his retirement, the DPW facility was named in his honor. Harold was the founder and owner of H. W. Litchfield Contracting Co., later known as Harold and Jaime Litchfield Contractors when his grandson, Jaime, joined the business which was founded in 1960. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011 at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, Cohasset. Visiting hours Tuesday, Nov. 1 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset. Interment Woodside Cemetery, Cohasset.
