Barbara Ann Baker Covert, 76, of Dowelltown, passed away suddenly, on Oct. 13, 2011, at DeKalb Community Hospital.
Mrs. Colvert was born July 26, 1935.
She was one of the founding members of Covenant Baptist Church. She enjoyed participating in the Sparta and Smithville Senior Yoga Clubs. She attended the Cassville School and graduated from White County High School. She then attended Middle Tennessee State University, earning a master's degree in education. Colvert was a retired school teacher and was an ownership partner in Basement Sales.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Landreth and Velma Louise Hill Baker. Survivors include her husband of 57 years Bobby Colvert of Dowelltown, 2 children- John & wife Karen Colvert of Murfreesboro & Lou Ann & husband Steve White of Smithville. 6 grandchildren, 3 great grand children, 3 brothers & sisters- Betty Herndon of Smithville, Bill Baker of Cassville, Mary Louise Fitzgerald of Lafeyette, IN.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Oct. 16, 2011, at the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, in Smithville, with burial in DeKalb Memorial Gradens. Bro. Thurman Seber and Bro. Bobby Colvert will officiate. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m., Oct. 15, and 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Oct. 16, at the funeral home.
