Sherman Tecumseh Ridge, son of Fleming and Caroline Ridge, was born in Worth County Missouri December 17th, 1864, and died at his home in Clearfield, Iowa on April 13th, 1934, at the age of 69 years, 3 months, and
26 davs. He attended the rural school near Blockton Iowa and grew to manhood there. On Mav 20th, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Connor of Grant City, Missouri . They soon moved to Nebraska City, Nebraska where they lived for five years. They returned to Blockton where they resided for a number of years. To this union were born two daughters, Mrs. Mary Louvre of Marshalltown, Iowa and Mrs. Anna Fiscus of Omaha, Nebraska. The mother died August 16, 1916. In the fall of 1918 Mr. Ridge came to Clearfield where he took up draying and garden work. In September 1922 he was married to Miss Nettie Rinker, and to this union were born four children: Harry Sherman, Bernice, Wilma, and Robert Lee. In early life he united with the Christian church at Pleasant Ridge, Missouri. He was kind-hearted and ever ready to do his part by his fellowmen. While getting his team ready to go to work on Tuesday morning, he suffered a stroke from which he never rallied. Once again a familiar face will be missed and a familiar voice will be stilled. To mourn his death are his widow, six children, three brothers, Ed Ridge of Wyoming, Jesse Ridge of Gearing, Nebraska, and William Ridge of Walker, Missouri; one sister Mrs. Louisa Ball of Blockton, Iowa, a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives, and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held in the Christian church Sunday afternoon, Pastor Philip Nystrand officiating with Rev. H. B. Hutchman of the United Presbyterian church assisting A quartette, Mr. and Mrs. J. Ralph Crew, Mrs J D. Barrans, and Reed Nickle sang. Pall bearers were Frank Bye, Ray Speer, Frank
