J. Russell Bloss, a well known resident of the eighth ward, died at his home, 40 Second Street, at 3:45 o'clock, Friday afternoon, after a long illness of paralysis. Mr. Bloss had been in poor health for the past eight years, having been confined to his bed or his home for the greater part of that time. He was born in the town of Day, Saratoga county, March 1, 1886, and at an early age came to Amsterdam, where he was employed as a weaver in the McCleary branch of the Mohawk Carpet Mills until he was stricken. May 12, 1889, he was united In marriage to Elizabeth Lofty, of Flint, Michigan. He, had resided in Amsterdam for the last 33 years.
Until ill health incapacitated him, Mr. Bloss had been active in the affairs of the Forest Avenue M. E. church, havlng served on its official board. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Rodney Hawley Johnson, Jr., and Mrs. Allen
Sheldon: three grandchildren, Dorothy B Johnson, Jeane and Gerald Sheldon; two sisters, Mrs. R. B. Mumford and Mrs. D. S. Munn, all of Amsterdam; one brother, Fletcher Bloss, of Ballaton Spa.
