George Thomas Halferty was born to Carl Herman "Copper" Halferty and wife Lila Marie (Cook) Burgett Halferty; siblings included Raymond Burgett, Bill Halferty, Betty Halferty, and David Halferty. George lived in Lucas County Iowa and also in Plattsmouth, Cass County, Nebraska; he married Carol (Guyer)on March 3, 1970. He was working on a dock when an accident happened and a heavy steel door fell on him, killing him instantly. He was 21 years old. He and Carol had just found out that she was going to have a baby, son Tad, who was born the next summer. George was pleasant and well liked, sadly missed by friends and family. He was my cousin and I remember him well as a fun loving kid.
