George Allen Totman. son of Charles and Mary Jane Totman. was born Aug. 25, 1875 in Grant County Wisconsin. He moved to Buena Vista County a year later and settled on one of the Stetson farms. He attended Buena Vista County schools and Buena Vista College.

On December 24, 1901 he was married to Nellie Markusen of Correctionville. They made their home in Quimby. For many years he was employed with the Simonsen Mill and also was manager of the Quimby Implement Company. Following ill health he retired and was confined to a wheel chair.

He suffered a heart attack Saturday, June 27, and and died June 29 at 11:40 a.m. at the age of 77 years, 10 months and four days. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1946, by two infant sons and a son James who died November 4, 1943 in the service of his county.

Totman was affiliated with the Odd Fellows and Rebekaha and was a member of the Methodist Church of Quimby. He assisted with the church choir. He is survived by one sister Mrs. John T. Coast of Marshalltown; three children Robert Totman of LeMars; Mrs. Vern Ewing of Cherokee; and Mrs. Allen Conley of Quimby: also six grandchildren.

Services were held Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. from the home and at 2 p.m. from Methodist Church with Rev. Roscoe Jerrell in charge. Laurence Bloomquist sang Mrs. Dale Gano accompanied him at the piano. Burial was in Quimby cemetery with Boothby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements
