Funeral services for Harold Dougherty will be at 11 a.m. Saturday February 8, 2014 at the Old No. 3 Church in South Streator. Rev. John Gutz will officiate and also conduct graveside services in Riverview Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be members of his family.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Elias Funeral Home in Streator.
Harold was born on January 9, 1915 in Ottawa, IL, he was the son of Edward L. and Minnie (Haage) Dougherty. He married Anna Klima, his wife of 64 years.
He is survived by 2 sons Patrick of Streator, Daniel (Judy) of Rushville, IL, 5 daughters Patsy Hugart, Mary Lou (Max) Heinz both of Streator, Dorothy Leaming of San Antonio, TX, Donna Loebach of Treasure Island, FL, and Cheryl Metcalf of Aurora, IL. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Harold attended Streator Township High School. He worked many jobs in his lifetime and retired from Owens Illinois Glass Mfg. He was a Justice of the Peace for South Streator in the 1950's. His hobby was restoring bicycles. He and his wife Anna did a lot of traveling, the enjoyed Ireland, Hawaii, England, the Philippines and many states in the U.S.
He is preceded in death by his wife Anna, brothers Daniel and Carl, a daughter Judith in infancy, grandson Jeffrey S. Heinz, son-in-laws Harold Leaming, Donald Loebach and Lester Metcalf.
