World War I Victoria Cross Medal Recipient. He served as a Private First Class in the 1/1st Berkshire Yeomanny, British Army. During the attack on Hill 70, Gallipoli, Turkey, August 21, 1915, Private Potts although wounded, remained for over 48 hours under the Turkish trenches with another private who was severely wounded. He then fixed a shovel to the equipment of his wounded comrade and using this as a sledge, dragged the man under enemy fire back over 600 yards to safety. For most prestigious gallantry, he was promoted Lance Corporal and awarded the Victoria Cross Medal.
