Ann E. Hill was born of Finnish parents on September 29, 1921. She was one of eleven children. Her father was a lay minister of the Finnish Apostolic Lutheran Church. She married Frederick Whiting Hill in 1948. They were blessed with four wonderful children over the next few years; Marcia, George, Steve and Susan. They made their home in Huntsville Alabama where Fred worked for the Defense Department and Ann raised the children. Fred passed away suddenly in 1970 and Ann went to work for the Huntville City Schools and took on the job of raising all four children herself. It was her unwavering devotion to God that helped her to raise four successful adults in their own right. She was very thankful that all of her children loved the Lord and had loving families. Ann was a devoted and active member of her beloved St. Marks Lutheran Church for nearly fifty years. She was a loving mother and devoted friend. Her pleasures were simple. She enjoyed her beautiful flower garden, visiting with her many friends and spending time with her children, grandchildren and in March of 2003 she welcomed her first great-grandchild. She encouraged her family to pursue their dreams and prayerfully kept watch. Her memory will be cherished and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
