Grandparents, parents, and loving relatives welcomed Donald H. Anderton home on October 21, 2009. Don died from the devastating effects of Alzheimer's disease at home surrounded by his loving family. Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Don was born March 13, 1925 in Duchesne, Utah to Neil and Irene Hale Anderton. They were later divorced and Don was raised by his loving grandparents, Frank and Grace Hale. He had a happy life attending school, helping at home, playing basketball and graduating from Duchesne High School in 1943. He served his Country during World War II. From High School, he went directly into the Army and served in the South Pacific on Guadal Canal from April 1943 to February 1946.
He attended the College of Eastern Utah where he met his wife of 62 years, Bobbie LaRee Henrie. She was the love of his life. They were married May 30, 1947 in Duchesne. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple in 1962. They moved to Spanish Fork in 1952 where he started in the sales business for Orson Brown Chevrolet. Later he was part owner of Tesco Truck Equipment Company in Salt Lake City. He was a Grandpa Helper at the Rees School and taught Gospel Doctrine at the Utah County Jail, both of which he dearly loved.
Don is survived by his wife, and five children: Irene (Mike) Brunson, Spanish Fork, Connie Levingston, Lehi, Judy (Richard) Spear, Lehi, Wayne Anderton, Spanish Fork, and Bryan (Phi Phi) Anderton, Pasadena, CA. Also, 17 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.
Don has been active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He has served in many positions, including: Elders Quorum President, High Councilman Palmyra Stake and First Counselor in the 7th Ward Bishopric. Don was a member of the Kiwanis Club, of which he was president in 1971. He received his 35 year pin.
