"Connie" Claunda Stanger Brown
Connie Brown passed away peacefully at the Mt. Ogden Rehab Center after she had completed her life adventure in this beautiful world at age 91. She was born April 18, 1920, a daughter of Beatrice Holmes and Archie Stanger in Marriott, Utah at the family home.
Connie married Daniel Brown in Ogden, Utah on December 24, 1942. Their marriage was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in Kanesville (West Haven) for 42 years where they had many friends and raised their 5 sons. After the death of her husband she moved back to Marriott in 1997.
Mom learned at a very young age the value of hard work and fun on the family farm along the side of her dad, brothers, and sisters. She attended Marriott grade school and graduated from Weber High School and LDS Seminary. She worked for S H Kress, Payless, Auerbacks, and Skaggs drug stores. She also worked for IRS. She was a member of the Railroad Ladies Auxiliary and Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
Mom was always a strong member of the LDS church serving in many ward and stake callings in the MIA and Relief Society. She always had a friendly smile and a compassionate heart. She had a great appreciation for life and all it blessed her with. She had a deep love and concern for each member of her family.
She loved all sports and especially enjoyed bowling on various teams. Dancing was her favorite activity in her younger years and she met Dan at the Berthana Ballroom. Her special interests were family, church, friends, the big flower garden in Kanesville, reading, and swimming at the Roy Complex until the age of 86.
Mother is survived by five sons, Steven (Earlene) Brown, Lynn Brown, Randy (Shelley) Brown, Danny (Barbara) Brown, Kent (Tamara) Brown; 18 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by brothers Archie and Lee Stanger, and sister, Sharon Turnblom.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Brown; her parents, Beatrice and Archie Stanger; brother, Eugene Stanger; sisters, Leila Holmes, Sally Mitchell and Donna Minor; granddaughter Rachael Brown; grandson, Eric Brown and great-grandson, Levi Brown.
Thanks to everyone that helped mom with a special thanks to her neighbor Barbara Barrows for her kindness and love. Special thanks to Hospice Care especially Tiffany, Bonnie, Gloria, Loni, Sheri and the Mount Ogden health and Rehab Center.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Marriott Slaterville Church (1500 W. 250 N.). A viewing for friends and family will be held on Friday, October 28th at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:30 to 1045 a.m. at the church. Interment, West Point Cemetery.
