STONEVILLE- Rufus "Buster" Hardy Joyce, 88, of 104 Lemons Street, died Monday, Feb. 27, 2006, at Morehead Nursing Center in Eden.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Mr. Joyce was born in Stokes County to the late Rufus N. and Minnie Amos Joyce. He was a World War II Army veteran and was a retired carpenter for John Smith & Sons.
Surviving are wife Mary Sue Ledbetter Joyce of the home; sons, Randy Joyce of South Boston, Va., and Dr. Mike Joyce of Danville, Va.; four grandchildren, Kris Joyce, Kelly Dunbar, Jessica Carr and Bryan Joyce; two great-grandchildren, Luke Carr and Landon Dunbar; brother Johnny Joyce of Stoneville; sisters, Lola Joyce of Stoneville and Lettie Carroll of Reidsville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Tony Joyce; brother Obie Joyce and sister Louise Gilbert.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Fair Funeral Home Chapel and other times at the home, 104 Lemons Street, Stoneville.
