Cause of Death: Car Crash with Son

Bertie’s son, Conley was driving his Roadster Coupe with Bertie on Douglas Dam Road in Jefferson County, TN when the steering gear broke resulting in a violent crash pinning Bertie and Conley in the wreckage. They died instantly. Conley’s wife, Ruth Swann Romine and daughter escaped with only cuts and bruises.
