Daughter of James F. Fox and Martha Beams. Sister to an Hannah Fox Owens, Permelia Fox Smiddy, Mr. Samuel B. Fox, Martha Ann Fox Sandifer, Mr. James Carter Fox, Alecy Fox, Mr. Jesse Fox Sr., Mr. William Fox, Nancy J. Fox Austin, and Mary J. Fox.

Prudy married Gilbert Ancil Delk on 5 Jul 1848 in Campbell County, Tennessee. They were married by Chaupen Duncan, Justice of the Peace. Together they had 4 children as follows: Mr. William M. Delk, Nancy Elizabeth Delk Brown, Mr. Allen Delk, and Mary Jane Delk Lewallen.

After Gilbert died while a prisoner of war during the Civil War, Prudy had 2 additional children with another man out of wed lock. These children are as follows: Henry Delk and Jasper Lambdin Delk. It is believed that the man she had these children with was William Duncan. The evidence that supports this conclusion is that William's wife divorced him in Scott County, Tennessee on 27 Nov 1873 for the charge of adultery with Prudy Delk. William Duncan never married Prudy Delk. It is also possible that Jasper was fathered by a Lambdin since this surname was very popular in the Whitley County, Kentucky area at the time of his birth.

The exact date of her death was determined from her pension records for her husband, Gilbert Delk. Nancy Delk Brown reported the death of her mother, Prudy, to the government and pension payments were stopped. It is believed that she died in Lot, Whitley County, Kentucky since this is where she lived for most of her life. In the last known record for her, the 1890 Kentucky Veterans Schedule census, she was living near Lot. No record can be found for her in the 1900 census. Based upon the existing burials of relatives in the cemeteries for Lot, Whitley County, Kentucky it is believed that she was buried in an unmarked grave either in Lot Cemetery or in Old Lot Perkins Cemetery.

This is my great great great grandmother.
