Mrs. J. D. Lenig
Melinda Catherine, daughter of Jobe and Rebecca Henry, was born in Marion county on September 26, 1863 and fell asleep in Jesus on December 12, 1924, at the age of 61 years, 2 months and 16 days. On September 29, 1881 she was married to Jonathan Lenig who with five children Mrs. Clarence Parker, Mrs. Elmer Richards, Tom Ben and Jonas survive her. Five children Mary Lyde, Walter, Guy, Dolly, Eleanor, Harry and Henry passed away in infancy and have gone on to welcome their mother at the arrival in the promised land.
Beside her husband and five children she leaves three sisters and five brothers, Mrs. Lyde Storm, of Macedonia, George Storm and Mrs. John Perry of Tipperary, John Henry of Broken Bow, Nebr., Will Henry of Carson, Robert Henry of Shenandoah, Tom Henry of Macedonia and Ben Henry of Villisca twenty-eight grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends also mourn their loss.
When but a girl she united with the Christian Union church at Antioch but after that church burned she gave little thought to her religious life until in her present illness she called her loved ones to her bedside and hold them many times how ready and willing she was to go if it was her Master's will. She was so happy, asked the friends to sing and selected several songs.
We shall miss a faithful and loving wife, mother and friend, but it is such a consolation to know that she is safe at home.
