Lorene Maxine Russell, 91, of Pittsburg, passed away at 2:05 a.m. Thursday, October 27, 2011, in the Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Frontenac. She was born March 9, 1920, at Gross, Kansas, the daughter of James Degraft and Eva Pearl (Tipton) Green. On December 11, 1940, she was united in marriage to Herman Russell at Casseville, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 2, 2006. Mrs. Russell was a homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. Membership was held in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Eagles. She was a former member of TOPS. Survivors include one son, James A. Russell and his wife, Linda of Dallas, TX; three daughters, Janet Sincavage and her husband, Bernard of Pineville, Louisiana, Sue Russell of Pittsburg, and Carolyn Harper and her husband, Dennis of Ft. Scott; one sister, Nora Lee Kelly and her husband, Donald of Goddard, KS; sixteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Bill Bahn and Harold Green, and one son, Wayne Russell. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 29) at the Highland Park Cemetery with Bishop Mark Brown officiating. Burial will follow the services. Friends are requested to meet at the cemetery. Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at the Brenner Mortuary to sign the register. The family suggests memorials to Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and/or Harry Hynes Hospice. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762.
