DOWNERS GROVE — Phyllis L. Hawksley, 83, of Downers Grove, passed away Oct. 20, with her family at her side, after a valiant battle with Parkinson's disease.

Phyllis was born on June 21, 1928, in Streator to Walter and Elizabeth (Bakalar) Lytle. She was a high school classmate with her husband-to-be, Bud, and they married in 1952 after he returned home upon his completion of his commission in the Korean War, and they settled in Downers Grove in 1954 to raise their family.

Phyllis was a loving wife, mother and homemaker who volunteered her time as a teacher's aide at Whittier Grade School and was a long time parishioner at St. Mary's of Gostyn Church. Most of all, she enjoyed shopping for others, always finding that perfect gift for a birthday or a special present at Christmas.

Phyllis will be missed by so many but her spirit will remain with her family and friends by all of our fond and cherished memories.

The funeral services were private. Please honor Phyllis with a donation to the Parkinson's Research Center in her name, St. Michael the Archangel School or the donor's choice.
