Dr. Richard C. Adams, 74, Champaign, Ill., died Wednesday, September 17, 2003, in Provbana Hospital, Urbana, Ill. Born August 14, 1929, in Quincy, Ill., a son of Carroll S. and Virginia Davis Adams. He married Mariann D. Lillard, June 14, 1953, in Canton, Mo. She survives. Dr. Adams was a 1951 Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of South Dakota with a bachelor of science of medicine, and a 1953 graduate of the University of Iowa with a doctor of medicine degree. He served from 1954-56, as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force. Dr. Dams was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Champaign, Savoy, Ill., serving as deacon, board of trustees, member, moderator, member of the building committee, and a choir member. He established his Champaign medical family practice in 1956, retiring in 1995. During that time he served as president of the Burnham City Hospital Staff, president of the Champaign County Medical Society, a member of the board of directors Burnham Hospital, and a member of the American Medical Association. He was also a member of AOA Honorary Medical Fraternity, Board Certified Family Physician, and a Kiwanis member.
