Son of Joseph Newell & Janie Martha Lollis Scott; husband of Sarah Artie Bolding Scott.

James lost his life from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Overhead Bridge in Liberty, when two vehicles collided there.

He was a lifelong resident of Liberty and employed in textile work.

Survived by his wife; six daughters, Mrs. Julia Atkins, Mrs. Eva Whitlock, Miss Vera Scott, Miss Earline Scott, Miss Sarah Ellen Scott, and Miss Christine Scott (actually his niece); a son, James Lollis Scott, Jr.; one grandchild; three sisters, Mrs. Neely Garner, Mrs. Lizzie Leach, and Mrs. Ida Kelly; a half sister, Mrs. Thelma Couch; five half-brothers, Joe Scott, Haskell Scott, Dock Scott, Roy Scott, and Marion Scott; and his stepmother, Mrs. Lizzie Scott.

Funeral services: Tuesday, June 22, 1937, Eastside Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. E. O. Edwards, Rev. J. A. Davis, and Rev. H.M. Alley.

Burial: *Church Cemetery (this is a misprint, Eastside Baptist Church did not have a cemetery - he was buried in West View Cemetery in Liberty).

Pallbearers: Frank Garner, Claude Bolding, J.C. Bolding, Garvin Bolding, Clyde Bolding, and Claude Leach.

Honorary escort: Grady Owens, Zeb Smith, Ralph Hunter, Albert Atkins, Ab Gillespie, Lee Harris, Roy Pridmore, J. P. Henderson, J.W. Julian, and Tom Kelley

Flower girls: Eula Mae Boling, Bessie Whitlock, Lucille Garner, Christine Owens, Edna Mae Owens, and Nellie Thomas.
