Robert C. Weathers, 90, passed into the loving arms of the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at the Boise VA Community Living Center. He was blessed with a long, full life.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a,m., on Tuesday, Nov. 1, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Military honors and inurnment services will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
He was born on Nov. 16, 1920 in Portland, Oregon, a son of Harland and Margaret Weathers. The family moved to Garden Valley and then to Mountain Home, where he was educated. There he married Myrtle Langfitt on July 3, 1942. He joined the U.S. Army in September 1942 and served in Europe during World War II.
Throughout his life he had many careers, but owned and operated the Chevron gas station until his retirement. He was a member of the Mountain Home Fire Department from February 1950-1977 and fire chief from 1971-1976. He was member of the Lions Club, serving as president from 1982-83. He was also a member of the Masons, Shrine (and enjoyed the Tin Lizzies) and Elks. He was also involved with the Civil Air Patrol.
He loved to fish and spend time traveling to different parts of the country to catch the next big one. He also liked to travel and enjoyed visiting a lot of the globe.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle; and his sister, Betty Tingly.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Killian, of Mountain Home, a son, Kenneth (Karen), of Star; five grandchildren, Christy, Nicole, Stephen, Laura and Todd, 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
