Clyde P Firestone, 89, of 45082 state Route 46 died at 3:30 a.m. Monday at his home. He was born March 1, 1911, in New Waterford, a son of William A and Elizabeth Lyons Firestone and had lived in the area all of his life. Mr. Firestone worked for the former Mellinger Lumber Company in Leetonia for 43 years where he had been the mill foreman for most of the time and had worked in the office for the last few years. He was a member of the East Fairfield United Methodist Church, had been chairman of the church board for 15 years, was past trustee of the church and had been chairman of the building committee for the present church building. He served with the 395th Infantry Regiment of the 99th division of the Army, serving the the Ardennes, Thineland and Central Europe during WW II. He is survived by his wife, Katheryn Gorby whom he married Oct 18, 1950; a sister, Mrs. Gayle (Adda) Paxson of Salem; and a brother, Guy Firestone of North Lima. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Iva Everett, Grace Vollnogle, Ethel Firestone, and Hazel Firestone; and five brothers, Richard W Firestone, David A Firestone, Allen Firestone, Walter Firestone and Howard E Firestone. The Rev, Wanda Wilson will officiate at the 11 a.m. services Thursday in the East Fairfield United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Warrick Kummer Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the church. 3/21/00.
