Edward V. Abella, 75, passed away on Oct. 17, 2011 at Loma Linda VA Hospital in Loma Linda, Calif. Eddie was born in Phoenix, Ariz. on Aug. 27, 1936 to his parents Josephine and Zacarias "Frank" Abella. His family moved to Blythe when he was just a teen.
In 1954 he enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Korean War in the Airborne Division as a paratrooper. Upon completion of serving his country he attended Palo Verde College. He then worked for Pacific Lettuce, State of California EDD and Blythe Police Department. Shortly after that he became employed with Basic Vegetables where he worked for 24 years before retiring.
Words cannot express how much he will be missed. He will be with us always, here in our hearts, until the day that we see him again. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Norma; brothers Eugene and Robert Empante; loving children, Michelle (Abella) Rodriguez, Lisa (Abella) Rodriguez, Cherie Abella, Zack Abella, Andre Abella, David "Buddy" McCaslin and Tania (Abella) Rodriguez; loving stepchildren, Anita (Curiel) Faragher, Eugene "Junior" Curiel, Rene Curiel, Flora (Curiel) Orozco and Yvonne (Loya) Clark; grandchildren, great grandchildren, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Virginia Empante.
Services will be held on Oct. 28, 2011, rosary 10:30 a.m. and mass at 11 a.m. at Saint Christopher Catholic Church, 25075 Cottonwood Ave, Moreno Valley, CA 92553; burial at the Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside CA 92518.
There will be a reception following the burial at Heritage Lake Clubhouse, 27600 Heritage Lake Dr, Menifee, CA 92585.
